Early Half Dollar
Auction and Coin Market Price guideHalf dollars are one of two denominations, along with one-cent coins, to be minted with continuity from the 1790s to present. The early halves had many different designs beginning with the Flowing Hair Design in 1794, followed by the Draped Bust obverse and Small Eagle reverse. In 1801, the Heraldic Eagle reverse was used along with the Draped Bust front design. From 1807-1836, the Capped Bust design by John Reich was produced.
