The draped bust design of Liberty with her flowing hair tied back in a ribbon on the front of the Bust dime is shared with the half dime, quarter and half dollar. The production of this coin changed the minting process when it used the closed collar method in order to preserve the details in the edges of the back. The closed collar method eliminated the need for the casting machine as this new method was able to produce all sides of this coin at once.
